Fantasy High Street is a new arts organisation that delivers extraordinary, magical arts events in local high streets and public spaces within communities.
Originally conceived by Lydia to transform retail shops and derelict public spaces into magical mindboggling enterprises, converting a parade of everyday shops into a Fantasy High Street which defies imagination - the organisation now forges parnterships between visual and performance artists and local organisations and businesses, to present a broad range of interactive events including 'experiential shops', public trails, treasure hunts, street performances, visual arts exhibits and light installations.
Imagine….a high street full of your wildest dreams. If you could build the ultimate shop, filled with fantasies from the far corners of your imagination, the stuff of fiction and films – what would it be? Perhaps you would request a real life Charlie’s Chocolate Factory, where everything inside was made of sweets? Perhaps you’d choose an indoor adventure playground just for adults, where you could dive into the ball pit to your heart’s content? What about a bookshop where prize-winning authors read you stories whilst you snuggle under a duvet? This is the Fantasy High Street, so anything’s possible - and that’s just the start…
In it's first year of operation Fantasy High Street has already delivered 3 major commissions both in London and around the UK.
